What is Notary Public

How I can help you

As a company or individual, you usually need Notary Public services for any of the following dealings in other countries.

Commercial life

  • Powers of Attorney – for example when your representative in a country where you trade is authorised to act on your behalf.
  • Attestation of the identity of a director, secretary or other company officer.
  • Execution of commercial contracts for use abroad.
  • Certification of Incorporation or Memorandum of Association and Articles, company resolutions, minutes, reports and other commercial documents.

Private life

  • Powers of Attorney – for example to buy or sell property.
  • Certified copies of passports qualifications and other documents – for example when you apply for an overseas job.
  • Affidavits and statutory declarations.
  • Applications to marry in another country.
  • Certificates of residency.
  • Consent statements for a child to travel with a lone parent.
  • Adoption papers.

I can help you with all these and similar subjects, making sure that the documentation is in order when it comes to authentication and certification, so that you can concentrate on your business or private affairs.

What else

Some countries need what is called an Apostille on documents. This is a certification from the Foreign and Commonwealth office certifying a public official’s signature. This might be my signature and seal or that of a Registrar or an HMRC signatory. I can arrange to obtain this.

In some cases documentation also needs to be sent to the consular section of the embassy of another country for their stamp. This is often called legalisation.

How long will it take?

If the documents don’t need an Apostille or legalisation, you can get certification straightaway.

Arranging for the Apostille and legalisation can take a few days. I may also have to carry out independent verification of issues such as qualifications or company credentials.
